Come out and support your fellow East Baton Rouge 4-H’ers as they exhibit their livestock projects! Below is a schedule of event for you to plan accordingly.
Friday, January 12, 2018
3:00 PM—Barns open to admit animals
6:00 PM—All animals must be in the barns and registered
6:30 PM—General show meeting and supper for all exhibitors and their families
7:30 PM—Stock Show Scavenger Search
Saturday, January 13, 2018
9:30 AM—Shows begin (Hogs begin in the Coliseum, Poultry begins in the barns)
12:00 PM—Cattle Show Starts (or following the Goat Show, whichever is later)
Parade of Champions and Exhibitor Dinner to conclude the show (animals to be released following the Parade of Champion.)
Louisiana State 4-H will once again host its “4-H Night with the Pelicans” on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018. Come out and support Louisiana 4-H as the Pelicans take on Miami Heat in the Smoothie King Arena. Please check upcoming Clovertalks for more information about pricing, packages, and how to order your tickets. This event is open to all 4-H’ers and their families and friends. Hope to see you guys there!

Ticket prices include: admission to pre-game activities, 4-H Night with the Pelicans t-shirt, game seats, on-court experience, and post game photos!
The Backyard Buddies Program kicked off in September with a great group of new members. The next scheduled meeting will be Thursday, November 16 at 6:30 PM at the Central Library, 11260 Joor Rd., Baton Rouge. Please come with any questions you may have. In the meantime, please feel free to contact me as needed. I am here to help!
Chicken Show: Saturday, October 28—Check-in 9:00-12 p.m., show starts at 12:00 p.m.
Rabbit Show: Saturday, October 28—Check-in 9:00– 10:00 a.m., show starts at 10:00 a.m.
Dairy Cattle Show: Sunday, October 30—Check-in by 12:30, show starts at 1:00 p.m.
Goat Show (Breeding & Market): Saturday, November 5—Check-in by 12:30 p.m.,
show starts at 1:00 p.m.
Beef Cattle Show: Sunday, November 6—Check-in by 12:30 p.m., show starts at 1:00 p.m.
Horse Club will meet on Tuesday, November 7th @ 6:00 PM at the Central Perk Coffee (6691 Sullivan Rd, Greenwell Springs). At this meeting we will plan our year as well as discuss Capital Area Horse Show, and future meeting events.
CAPITOL AREA HORSE SHOW
The East Baton Rouge 4-H Horse Club will once again host the Capitol Area Horse Show on Saturday, January 27-28, 2018. This will be an open horse show available to any and all interested participants. There will be 3 divisions for participation: 13 & Under, 14 to 18, and 19 & Up. The East Baton Rouge Parish Livestock Club will meet on Tuesday, November 14 at 6 PM at Gas utility in Zachary. Don’t forget to bring donations for the Canned Food Drive! If you have any questions, or need more information, please contact Mrs. Andrea.

Rochelle Wilking is the new 4-H agent for East Baton Rouge Parish, she will be helping enhance the programs and reach more of the community. Being in 4-H in her youth, she believes that 4-H is a tool to build the youth academically and socially; and that 4-H also encourages leadership, friendship and citizenship. She has worked on a beef farm, and as a large animal veterinarian technician through Louisiana State University. During these experiences she has developed a deep appreciation for teaching students and learning while doing. Rochelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal, Dairy and Poultry Science from Louisiana State University.
The East Baton Rouge Shooting Sports Program is off to a great start! We’d like to thank all of our new members for deciding to join and take part in this group. We would also like to welcome back our returning members. We are all looking forward to a successful year!

If you did not receive a form, please be sure to let us know! Practices will be held this month on Saturday, November 4 from 9-11 AM, and on Saturday, November 18 from 9-11 AM.
Throughout the year, 4-H hosts numerous camps and events open to any member interested. These camps range from different focuses with different topics. Please see the list below of upcoming camps that may interest you. If interested, please contact the 4-H Office.
2018 FASHION CAMP
Fashion Camp will be held at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA on January 19-21, 2018. This camp focuses on 10-13 year olds. Deadline to register December 9. This year’s theme will be “Aloha Fashion Paradise”.
*Register with the 4-H office by December 1st. Cost to attend is $120.00 w/ t-shirt and meals included. SPACE IS

4-H SUMMER CAMP
4-H Summer will be held at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA on July 16-20, 2018. This camp focuses on 4th-6th graders.

ATTENTION 4-H’ERS: The EBR Parish canned food drive is at full speed! This year, the food drive will run from Tuesday, November 1 through Friday, November 17, 2017. If you have not made arrangements at your school, take the leadership role and speak with your leader and school administration to arrange a school-wide collection.
Members at large can bring their collections to the EBR Parish Office no later than November 17, 2017. All canned goods collected will be donated to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank for those in need this holiday season. Use your head, heart, hands, and health to do your part and give back.
