Wildlife expo set for Sept. 16 near Clinton

(08/18/17) CLINTON, La. — A daylong event featuring wildlife presentations and demonstrations will be held on Sept. 16 near Clinton.

The LSU AgCenter Bob R. Jones-Idlewild Research Station, located at 4419 Idlewild Road, will host the inaugural Feliciana Wildlife Expo. The AgCenter, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Bob R. Jones Wildlife Research Institute and the East Feliciana Tourist Commission are organizing the event.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., speakers will discuss a range of topics, including food plots, deer diseases, deer netting, feral hog toxicants, butchering techniques, Louisiana snakes and 4-H shooting sports programs. A big buck contest also will be held.

A 7 a.m. nature walk will precede the expo. Those interested should gather at the station’s south entrance at 13831 Gross Road beginning at 6:30 a.m.

Admission to the expo is free. Food will be available for purchase, and transportation between activities throughout the day will be provided.

Public parking will be available at the entrances on Idlewild Road and Gross Road.
