Mr. Ernest Freyou has been a 4-H member and volunteer for over 55 years. He has served on the Iberia 4-H Foundation since it was established in 1994. Throughout his involvement in 4-H, Mr. Freyou has made many positive contributions to the program. One of his most notable contributions was establishing checking and accounting procedures for the Iberia 4-H Foundation. He was instrumental in teaching 4-H professionals how to safeguard the collection, deposit and disbursement of 4-H funds as to minimize financial liability. During his service on the Iberia 4-H Foundation Board, Mr. Freyou helped establish the 4-H Foundation Golf Tournament that raised over $50,000.00 over 15 years. He is credited with helping to develop the Sugarcane Festival 4-H Livestock Show and Sale, that has helped generate over $150,000.00 for the participating members.
Mr. Freyou has had a very successful career which has earned him numerous recognitions. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the United Way of Iberia in 2000. In 2006, he received the Distinguished Citizen Award for Iberia Parish from the Evangeline Boy Scout Club.
Mr. Ernest Freyou has been and continues to be a tremendous asset and friend to the Iberia Parish 4-H Youth Development Program.
