Recycled Infill Material for Turfgrass

LSU AgCenter scientists have developed a new infill material for artificial turfgrass. Infill is used in the backing systems of artificial grass and resembles the earthen material, such as dark soil, beneath the grass. Most infills are made from sand or tire rubber that can lead to respiratory problems or contain harmful chemicals. The AgCenter product is made from a low-cost recycled material blend that reduces these side effects, is better for the environment, and still looks great for recreational or sports use.

You can find more information about this technology in the LSU AgCenter Technology Showcase.
