4-H Gears up for a Fun Filled Year! Join 4-H Today!
4-H is more than a club; it is a way of life. 4-H is the largest youth education organization in the United States, with more than 5.6 million youth between the ages of 9 and 19 involved each year. Louisiana has more than 240,000 active 4-H Club members. 4-H programs provide exciting and fulfilling opportunities for youth to use their talents, create unique experiences and explore their interests.
All this and more is possible in 4-H. Young people from all walks of life take in 4-H through school and community clubs, special interest groups, after-school programs, camps and other activities.
For more information on how to join a 4-H club in your parish, contact your school and ask for the 4-H leader. Also, youth should be on the lookout for an open enrollment meeting at their school during the month of September.
Please contact Ashly Pitre at 985-873-6495 if you are interested in showing livestock in 4-H during this school year. It is important that we have your name, address and email address so you can receive information on upcoming events.
4-H members should be enrolled in a 4-H livestock project by Sept. 28, 2012.
What is the 4-H Revolution of Responsibility?
It’s a movement for positive change in every community in America. 4-H youth are a living breathing, culture-changing revolution for doing the right thing, breaking through obstacles and pushing our country forward by making a measurable difference right where they live. That takes uncommon commitment. The revolution of responsibility comes to life everyday through real 4-H'ers who are making a real impact in their communities. Whether you’re a 4-H educator, volunteer or member, we want you to “Join the Revolution of Responsibility." Begin your revolution by promoting 4-H at your school and throughout Terrebonne Parish.
4-H Displays—School clubs work on 4-H Displays to place in the front of school to promote National 4-H Week. Pictures of displays should be e-mailed to the 4-H office By Sept. 28, 2012. The winning club will receive an ice cream party.
This year, 4-H will host its first ever 5K race on Oct. 6, 2012 to kick off national 4-H Week. The race will begin at 8 a.m. with a youth fun run followed by the 5K starting at 8:30 a.m. All who preregister will receive a t-shirt. Flyers can be obtained by visiting the Terrebonne website. They can also be found by visiting Split Second LLC.
