Terrebonne 4-H Shooting Sports Information

Shooting sports offer 4-H'ers the opportunity to learn at their own pace and become more competitive and compete in parish, state and national contests.
  • Instill ethics, sportsmanship, and responsibility
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Promote the safe storage and handling of firearms and archery equipment
  • Expand 4-H membership.

Who can participate?

  • The program offers 4-H youth 9-19 years old the opportunity to learn about firearm safety, marksmanship, hunting and wildlife conservation.
  • The Terrebonne Parish program consists of two disciplines: Shotgun and Archery.
  • 4-H Club members must be 9 years of age before January 1 of the current club year and must not have passed their 19th birthday on January 1. Juniors will be shooters ages 9-13 as of January 1st of the current year. Seniors will be shooters ages 14-19 as of January 1st of the current year.
  • Participants are required to have completed 8 hours of 4-H Shooting Sports discipline training each year in each discipline in which they want to compete at the 4-H Regional Shoot in the spring. A 4-H Shooting Sports certified discipline instructor will verify workshop completion and competition on individual registration forms.
  • 4-H Members who have passed their 10th birthday on or before January 1st of the current club year MUST have completed a certified Hunter Education Course in order to compete at the regional or state level.


  • The program is taught by certified volunteer instructors who have completed intense training. The instructors meet with the youth at least once a month.
  • Practices are held at Tri-Parish Sporting Clays in Bayou Blue
  • Practices will begin in December
  • We will schedule a mandatory meeting for all new shooting sports members in November. Once registration is received, you will be contacted.
  • Parents must stay with 4-H member at practice
  • Range Rules and Safety MUST be followed – eye and ear protection
  • Each shotgun practice will cost $10
  • There is a yearly registration fee of $25 to join 4-H Shooting Sports. This is non-refundable.
