St. James Parish 4-H'ers recently were able to participate in the annual 4-H Bicycle Rodeo at Lutcher Recreation Park.  4-H'ers were able to test themselves on bicycle safety and test their bike handling skills on an obstacle course. The 4-H'ers were also checked for equipment.

The day began with a welcome from 4-H Agents, Kenneth Guidry and Robin Hart. 4-H'ers Bailey Culotta, Troy Allen, and Chaz Nailor let the opening exercises.  4-H'er Charlotte Martinez demonstrated how to properly wear a helmet before 4-H'ers participated in various bicycle skill events.  After the rodeo events, awards were presented to winners in each grade group.  Most of the 4-H'ers then took a bike hike to Sonic in Gramercy, where all enjoyed some great food and friendship.

The Bicycle Rodeo and Bike Hike could not have been put on without the help of volunteer leaders and Jr. Leaders.  Helping out were: Katy Roussel, Sasha Rocquin, Victoria Rocquin, Allen White, Rebekah Taylor, Colin Berthelot, Ashley Zeringue, Abby White, Laynie Arceneaux, and Jenna White.  Special thanks to all parent volunteers and Deputy Travis Lawless that assisted during the event.
