Seventh grade 4-H Club members from St. Bernard Parish participated in 4-H Challenge Camp at the Tickfaw State Park in Springfield, Louisiana. Groups of students worked together to solve challenges in the Amazing Tickfaw Race, Egg Drop, Steel House Construction and Boat Building that build leadership, team work, critical thinking and communication skills. Youth also participated in educational activities that that taught them about the eco-systems in the park, native species of plants and animals and the importance of the wetlands in Louisiana.

The highlight of the camp was a canoe trip where 4-H members practiced their team work skills while enjoying the landscape of the water way. Participants also had time to explore some of the parks nature trails, roast marshmallows over a campfire and meet 4-H members from other parishes. Parishes with other youth attending Challenge Camp included Ascension, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, and St. John.
