4-H Beef Poster Contest

Who: Every bona fide 4-H Club member; 3 Divisions (4th-6th, 7th-9th, 10th-12th)
When: March 28th - deadline for turning in entries (accepted at 4-H Achievement Day)
How: Make a poster telling the story of beef and/or beef products that is appropriate for a billboard.

1. Poster must be on “11 X 14” white poster board only.
2. Place your name, address, age, grade in school and parish on the upper right corner on the back of your poster.
3. Poster should generate positive images of beef and beef products and not portray negative image of other food products (i.e. chicken, pork, etc).
4. Get ideas from magazines, parents, friends, nutrition bulletins, Beef Ambassador Fact Sheets and meat publications. Materials are also available from your local supermarket, butcher, The American Meat Institute or National Livestock and Meat Board.
5. DO NOT use copyrighted materials. Pictures, clip-art and materials (i.e. cartoon characters, advertisements, logos, etc.) that are copyrighted may not be used on the poster and the poster will be disqualified is copyrighted materials are used.
6. Computer generated clip-art may be used on the poster if it is not copyrighted material.

Every 4-H club member that turns in a poster for judging will receive a ribbon. Each poster will be judges and placed into a purple, blue or red ribbon groups. Champions will receive additional recognition of a cash prize and may have their entry advance to State Competition.

4-H Bookmark Contest

What: Create a bookmark that promotes the message: “Hat Off to 4-H”. You may draw words, pictures or both. You CAN use computer generated clipart if you wish as long as it is not copyrighted material. All entries should have the 4-H’er’s name, school and grade ON THE BACK.

When: March 28th is the deadline for turning in entries to the 4-H office (you can turn them in at Achievement Day)

Who: Any 4-H member of Rapides Parish. Divisions will be by grade with overall champions in Elementary, Middle School, and High School if enough entries are received. All entries receive prizes with champions receiving cash.

Size: Measure card stock weight paper and cut out a bookmark that is 8 inches long by 2 inches wide. The card stock can be any color, but white is best. Your art work and message MUST be in color.

When: April 1st is the deadline for turning in entries to the 4-H office (you can turn them in at Achievement Day)
