Get your recipes ready for the 2011 Pointe Coupee 4-H Sugar and Pecan Cookery Contests on March 5.

WHO? All Pointe Coupee Parish 4-H’ers are eligible to enter. You do not have to be enrolled in any particular project.

WHAT? 2011 Pointe Coupee Parish 4-H Sugar and Pecan Cookery Contests

WHEN? Sat., March 5, 2011

Registration - 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.
Judging - 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Announcement of Winners - Noon

WHERE? The Cottonport Bank Community Center – New Roads, LA.

  • Contestants may enter more than one category in their division and must make their entry from “scratch.” No prepared or box mixes. Only entries that require refrigeration must be brought to the contest packed on ice in an ice chest.
  • To enter Sugar and/or Pecan entry, place the exact amount of food on a disposable plate, (if category asks for 6, exhibit 6 pieces), place plate and copy of recipe (without your name) in plastic bag and staple or tape the entry form to the outside of the bag. Cakes and pies can be covered with plastic wrap. Pies can be exhibited in pie shell tin pans. If your entries need a serving utensil, you must provide it at the contest and label it with your initials.
  • Any entry not properly entered will be disqualified.
  • Download the pdf version of the rules to print labels.

SUGAR COOKERY:

All Sugar Cookery entries must have at least 1/2 cup of sugar in the recipe. The contest is sponsored by Pointe Coupee Parish Farm Bureau. (No pecans will be allowed in any Sugar Cookery entry.)

Bread (1 loaf)
Candy without pecans (6)
Other

PECAN COOKERY:

All Pecan Cookery entries must have at least 1 cup of pecans in the recipe. This contest is sponsored by Bergeron’s Pecan Shelling Plant.
