Lincoln Parish 4-H Kids Have Talent

4-H is an amazing youth organization that offers youth the opportunity to showcase their variety of talents in so many diverse ways. One of the opportunities we offer Lincoln Parish 4-H Members is the opportunity to perform their talents. Each year we hold the Lincoln Parish 4-H Talent Contest. This year it was held on October 13, 2015 at the Dixie Center for the Arts. In case you all didn’t know, we have some wonderfully talented youth in Lincoln Parish.

The youth that placed at the Lincoln Parish 4-H Talent Contest are as follows: Jr. Dance (Under 14) - 1st- Ja’Quavion Aubrey – Cypress Springs Elem.; 2nd - Sophia Koskie, Montessori and Ryleigh Geis, Cedar Creek; 3rd– Alyssa Pesnell – Choudrant Elem. Jr. Vocal (Under 14) - 1st - Violet Waddle – Simsboro; 2nd - Madalyn Owens – Choudrant Elem.; 3rd - Abby Sherman – Choudrant Elem. Jr. Instumental (Under 14) - 1st - Devika Dua – Cedar Creek; 2nd - Lane Spurlock – Cypress Springs Elem.; 3rd - Leslie Osago – Cedar Creek. Jr. Other (Under 14) - 1s - Justin Szymanski – Ruston Elem.; 2nd – Haley Caraway – Choudrant Elem.; 3rd – Annie Jones, Cedar Creek and Lilli Adcox, Cedar Creek. Sr. Vocal (14 and Over) - 1st - Amara McCullough – Ruston Jr. High; 2nd – Terra Hinton – Bethel.

Ms. McKenna Jenkins and Ms. Eryn Hunter, both members of the Louisiana Tech Universtiy Union Board, served as judges for the Lincoln Parish 4-H Talent Contest. We thank these two judges for sharing their time and expertise with us and appreciate their support of the Lincoln Parish 4-H Youth Development Program. We appreciate the Dixie Center for the Arts for being so gracious to allow Lincoln Parish 4-H use of the theater so that our youth had the opportunity to perform their talents on an actual historical theater stage.

The 4-H members that placed at the parish 4-H talent contest became eligible to enter the State Fair of Louisiana 4-H Share the Fun Talent Contest that was held on October 24, 2015 in Shreveport. The youth that placed at the State Fair of Louisiana 4-H Share the Fun Talent Contest are as follows: Jr. Instrumental (Under 14) - 1st - Devika Dua – Cedar Creek; 3rd place - Lane Spurlock – Cypress Springs Elem. Jr. Other (Under 14) - 1st - Ja’Quavion Aubrey – Cypress Springs Elem.; 2nd - Haley Caraway – Choudrant Elem.; 3rd - Justin Szymanski – Ruston Elem. Sr. Vocal (14 and Over) - 3rd - Amara McCullough – Ruston Jr. High. Thank you to the State Fair of Louisiana for sponsoring this event.

The youth involved in these 4-H events are brave and courageous. By participating in these 4-H events, they are learning vital life skills. They work very hard preparing and practicing. We are very proud of our Lincoln Parish 4-H youth, please join us in congratulating them on their efforts, accomplishments and well deserved recognition.
