LOST Camp—Louisiana Outdoor Science and Technology Camp

This special camp will be held Monday August 5– Friday, August 9, 2013 at the Grant Walker Educational Center in Pollock, LA. It is open to boys and girls completing 7th grade or 8th grade as of May 2013. Tracks will cover Wetlands, Energy, Videography, Kitchen Chemistry, Outdoor Skills, ATV, and more! Participants will choose and participate in 3 of these tracks while at camp. Cost of camp is $250 and includes meals, lodging, and transportation. Students on free or reduced lunch can attend camp for $185. You must provide a copy of “Notification Letter for School Meals” to be eligible for reduced fees. Space is limited! A $50.00 deposit will hold your spot, and will be deducted from the total camp fee. All fees are DUE in the 4-H Office by 12 noon, Friday, May 10, 2013.

4-H Day at the Capitol

The annual “4-H Day at the Capitol” has been announced by the State 4-H Office. All 4-H members and volunteers are invited to travel to Baton Rouge on Wednesday, May 29 to participate in this fun, educational event! Visit our historic state capitol building! See how our government works! Meet some of your Senators and Representatives who make up our Louisiana Legislature. The day will begin with a short program on the front steps of the Capitol at 10:00 a.m. Members from all over the state of Louisiana will participate. All participating 4-H members will receive a free t-shirt to wear. The event is free, but you must register by Friday, April 26 to get a shirt. Call the 4-H Office at (504) 736-6519 for more information.

4-H Beef Poster Contest

4-H members are encouraged to create a poster telling about beef and/or beef products. The finished poster should be appropriate for use on a billboard. Poster must be on 11” X 14” white poster board and should generate positive images of beef and beef products and not portray negative images of other food products (such as chicken, pork, etc.) Completed posters are due in the Jefferson Parish 4-H Office by Friday, May 3. Volunteer Opportunities

We are in need of 2 male adults to attend 4-H Camp with us Monday, June 10—Friday June 14, 2013. No experience needed; required training provided! Must pass required background check. If interested, please call the 4-H office as soon as possible at 504-736-6519.

4-H Summer Camp

-H Camp is open to boys and girls completing grades 4-6 (ages 9-12). It is held at the Grant Walker Educational Center in Pollock, LA (15 miles northeast of Alexandria). Camp fees include transportation, lodging, all meals and snacks (with exception of a bag lunch on the way to camp), parish group picture, camp t-shirt, and $15.00 to spend in the camp store. Camp fee is $250.00 or $185.00 for campers on free/ reduced lunch or experiencing financial difficulty. Hurry! Spaces are limited! Non-4-H members are welcome to attend camp as long as space is available.
