Iberia Sugarcane Exhibit Contest Rules

Sugarcane Stalks

The Sugarcane Exhibit Contest involves producers/4-H'ers exhibiting three stalks of sugarcane that represent one of the varieties grown in Louisiana. Both youth and adult may participate. Awards are presented in both the adult and 4-H youth divisions.


ADULT DIVISION

The term producer as it applies in this class is defined as follows: A producer is the person or persons who actually produce the cane they are exhibiting on their own operational unit.

1. All exhibitors of sugarcane must be bonafide producers.

2. All exhibitors must have had five (5) or more acres of sugarcane on their farming operation in 2013.

3. A producer cannot enter more than one exhibit under the same class number.

4. A producer’s exhibit will be disqualified if his/her sugarcane does not come from his/her own farming operation.

Three (3) stalks make an exhibit and you may enter an exhibit in as many classes as you wish.

There will be classes and awards for the following varieties:

HoCP 96-540             L 99-233           L 01-299
HoCP 00-950             L 03-371           LCP 85-384            
L 99-226                     L 01-283           HoCP 04-838
HoCP 85-845             Ho 05-961        Others

Exhibits can be brought to the Cyr-Gates Community Center located in Iberia City Park on Thursday, September 26th between 3:00 and 6:00 p.m., or Friday morning, September 27th from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m.

 

JUNIOR DIVISION
