Diabetes NEWS Program to be offered
Do you or someone you know have diabetes? Do you sometimes get confused by what you can eat if you have diabetes? Are you not sure how you can live well with diabetes?
The LSU AgCenter and Franklin Medical Center are pleased to announce they will be offering the updated program Diabetes NEWS (Nutrition Education Works Series). The program consists of a series of five classes. Class topics include: Educating Yourself…Diabetes Awareness; Expand Your Options, Improve Your Choices…Nutrition and Diabetes; Balancing Your Lifestyle; Modifying Recipes When Cooking with Diabetes and Living Well with Diabetes. Each class includes the tasting of a variety of recipes.
The classes will be held on Tuesdays, in the Franklin Medical Center Auditorium, beginning June 28 at 11:30 a.m. and should last approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours. Remaining class dates will be: July 5, July 19, July 26 and August 2.
Class size is limited to 25 people and pre-registration is needed. Call 318-435-2903 to register. A registration fee of $15.00 per person will be charged for participating in the program to cover costs of food sampling and printing of a cookbook of diabetic recipes that each participant will receive. The registration fee must be paid by June 24th and only money orders are accepted. Money orders should be made payable to the LSU AgCenter and turned in to Terri Crawford at the LSU AgCenter Scott Research and Extension Office on Hwy. 15 in Winnsboro.
