Nicholas LaHaye received Reserve Champion honors at the State Livestock with his Brangus Bull.

Evangeline Parish 4-H and FFA youth participated in the 77th Annual LSU AgCenter 4-H and FFA Livestock Show February 11-18, 2012, at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, La.

Judges at the LSU AgCenter Livestock Show determined 2012 State Champions in various breeds of beef and dairy cattle, goats, hogs, poultry and sheep.

While the event showcases examples of the state’s important livestock industries, LSU AgCenter administrators say it is about much more than that.

Dr. William B. "Bill" Richardson, Chancellor of the LSU AgCenter, said," This event provides an opportunity for some of the most outstanding youth in the state to receive recognition for their hard work in learning how to grow and care for a wide array of animals . ”

Dr. Paul Coreil, Vice Chancellor of the LSU AgCenter, said, “We are honored to sponsor this annual event, where young people from across the state gather to build life skills in leadership, character and responsibility through educational livestock projects.”
