2012 4-H Egg Poultry Pecan and Sweet Potato Results

The Evangeline Parish 4-H Fall Food Fest was held on Monday, November 19, 2012 in the Sacred Heart Elementary Gymnasium. Fifty-one egg, poultry, pecan, and sweet potato dishes were awarded blue, red, or white ribbons. The parish contest was sponsored by Paul’s Meat Market and Grocery, Jack Miller’s Food Products, , E & L Produce, Evangeline Feed & Seed, and the Evangeline Parish Cooperative Extension Service/LSU Agriculture Center.

Parish winners in the Egg Cookery competition were: Appetizer/Salad Division – Caroline Reed, Sacred Heart Elementary 5th grade, with Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad; Main Dish Division – Baylee Guillory, Sacred Heart High 9th grade, with Pecan Praline Baked French Toast; and Dessert Division – Hunter Fontenot, Sacred Heart Elementary 5th grade, with Butterscotch-Banana Bread Pudding.

Parish winners in the Poultry Cookery contest were: Chicken Division – Madison Darbonne, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th grade, with Cornbread Dressing with Chicken; and Processed Poultry Products Division – Elayne Elnaggar, Bayou Chicot Elementary 6th grade, with Healthified Sausage-Stuffed Shells.

Parish winners in the Pecan Cookery contest were: Candy Division – Elise Mire, Sacred Heart Elementary 5th grade, with Pecan Brittle; Desserts Division –Kathryne Bergeron, Sacred Heart Elementary 6th grade, with Turtle Cake; and Other Pecan Dishes – Caroline Reed, Sacred Heart Elementary 5th grade, with Pepper Jelly Cheese Dip.

Parish winners in the Sweet Potato Cookery contest were: Dessert Division – Annabeth Briley, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th grade, with Homemade Sweet Potato Cake with Coconut Filling and Caramel Frosting; and Other Sweet Potato Dishes Division - Anne Christian Ardoin, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th, with Sweet Potato Soup.

All parish Egg, Poultry, Pecan and Sweet Potato winners will represent Evangeline Parish in the Regional Cookery contest to be held in Alexandria in March of 2013.

Other Egg Cookery winners were: Appetizer/Salad Division: Blue Ribbon - Annabeth Briley, Sacred Heart Elementary 6th. . Red Ribbon – Natalie LeBas, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th; and Iyana Freeman, Ville Platte High 6th.. Main Dish Division: Blue Ribbon – Sydney Bordelon, Sacred Heart Elementary 5th grade; and Hallie Daire, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th. Red Ribbon – Bradley Reed,Sacred Heart Elementary 5th grade. White Ribbon – Lindsey Meylian, Bayou Chicot Elementary 5th; and Whitney Ledoux, Ville Platte High 7th grade. Dessert Division: Blue Ribbon – Anna Katherine Steckler, Bayou Chicot Elementary 5th grade.

Other Poultry Cookery Contest winners were: Chicken Division: Blue Ribbon – Annie Edward, Pine Prairie High 12th; Alyssa Perron, Good Shepard Home School Club 4th grade; and Hallie Daire, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th. Red Ribbon – Lindsey Meylian, Bayou Chicot Elementary 5th; and Annabeth Briley, Sacred Heart Elementary 6th.

Other Pecan Cookery Contest winners were: Candy Division: Blue Ribbon – Kylie LeBas, Sacred Heart Elementary 5th; Emma Johnson, Member-at-Large 5th grade; Samuel Hollier, Sacred Heart Elementary 5th grade; Spencer Darbonne, Sacred Heart Elementary 4th grade; Baylee Guillory, Sacred Heart High 9th grade; and Bradley Reed, Sacred Heart Elementary 5th grade. Red Ribbon – Iyana Freeman, Ville Platte High 6th grade. Desserts Division: Blue Ribbon – Natalie LeBas, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th; Morgan LeBlanc, Sacred Heart Elementary 6th grade. Red Ribbon – Callie Pitre, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th grade; Kayra Fontenot, Bayou Chicot Elementary 5th grade; and Baylee Guillory, Sacred Heart High 9th grade. Any Other Dish: Blue Ribbon – Justine Ardoin, Ville Platte High 5th grade; and Madelyn LeBlanc, Sacred Heart Elementary 6th grade. Red Ribbon- Madison Darbonne, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th grade; and Hallie Daire, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th grade.

Other Sweet Potato Cookery Contest winners were: Dessert: Blue Ribbon – Callie Pitre, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th grade; Kylie LeBas, Sacred Heart Elementary 5th grade; Hunter Fontenot, Sacred Heart 5th grade; Anne Christina Ardoin, Sacred Heart Elementary 7th grade ; Elayne Elnaggar, Bayou Chicot Elementary 6th grade, and Madison Darbonne, Sacred Heart Elementary 7thgrade. Other Sweet Potato Dishes: Blue Ribbon – Ainsley Veillon, Sacred Heart Elementary 8th grade; Iyana Freeman, Ville Platte High 6th grade; Elise Mire, Sacred Heart Elementary 5th grade; Kathrine Bergeron, Sacred Heart Elementary 6th grade and Gabrielle Fontenot, Sacred Heart Elementary 6th grade.
