Louisiana Art and Folk Festival
We are very grateful to the 4-H Junior Leaders for volunteering their time at the Children's Tent! They assisted youth with crafts and the mini-farm and helped with face painting. Youth visiting the festival were able to participate in several activities free of charge.

4-H Junior Leader Club
This after-school project club for 4-H'ers in grades 7-12 met in Oct. and participated in decorating signs for water jugs that will be used to collect tabs for the 4-H service learning project this year. They also helped prepare supplies for the Louisiana Art and Folk Festival. The next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 7 at the Pre-Kindergarten Center from 4:15 - 5:30 p.m. Make plans to attend!

4-H Fashion, Food and Fitness Club
This after-school project club for 4-H'ers in grades 4-6 met in Oct. and participated in a lesson about food safety and hand washing. This club meets again on Nov. 15 at Columbia Elementary from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Remember to complete your enrollment forms and pay your $10 dues.

4-H Hamburger Lunch
Ticket sales begin on Nov. 7 for a hamburger lunch fundraiser to be held on Friday, Dec. 7 at the First United Methodist Church in Columbia. Plates include hamburgers, chips and dessert and may be picked up from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $6 each with proceeds going to the Caldwell 4-H Foundation. Make checks payable to Caldwell 4-H. Delivery can be arranged for orders of 15 plates or more. If you are interested in donating a homemade dessert (cake, cookies or brownies) contact the 4-H office at 318-649-2663. Desserts should be delivered to the 4-H office by noon on Thursday, Dec. 6. Tickets may be purchased from a 4-H Junior Leader or from the 4-H office.

Fall Foods Festival
The 4-H Fall Foods Festival will be held on Monday, Nov. 12 beginning at 8:45 a.m. at Union Central Elementary. The preregistration deadline for this event is Wednesday, Nov. 7. Please preregister by phone at 318-649-2663 stating contestants' name, school, grade and dish category. Dish categories are ground beef, beef any other, chicken, egg, rice main dish, rice any other, pecan and sweet potato. Each 4-H'er may enter one dish per category. All dishes must be chilled, on ice and transported in an insulated chest. Dishes not properly chilled will be disqualified. Recipes should be submitted on the recipe form available at the 4-H office or on the Fall Foods Festival Contest page of this site. Bring two copies of the recipe to the contest. The Consumer Foods Judging contest will also be available to enter. 4-H'ers who do not want to enter a dish can still compete during the Festival by entering this event. Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m. Please bring at least 2 canned items to be donated to a local food pantry. Donated items will be accepted at the 4-H office during preregistration or at the contest site. 

Fashion Revue and Consumer Decision Making Contest
The 4-H Fashion Revue and Consumer Decision Making contest will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 3 at the Grayson Elementary school auditorium. All contestants entering the contest are required to attend. Tuesday, Nov. 27 is the deadline to turn in hand-made garments, shirts and data forms for the contest. Clothing construction categories are Apron, Tops or Bottoms and Complete Outfit. Decorated Shirt categories are Shirts Promoting 4-H and Other. The Ready-to-Wear contest categories are grades 4-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Consumer Decision Making categories are grades 4-5, 6-8 and 9-12. First, second and third place winners will receive cash awards. 

Photography Contest
Entries for the Caldwell 4-H Photography Contest are due to the 4-H office by Friday, Dec. 14. Categories are Story or Series, Plants or Animals, and People, Structures or Buildings. Photographs must be taken by the 4-H member during the 2012 calendar year. 4-H'ers may submit one entry in each category. Cash awards will be given for first, second and third place winners in each category.

Dairy Billboard Contest
Dairy Billboard Contest entries will be due on Jan. 31, 2012. To enter, create a billboard design encouraging or promoting the consumption of milk and/or milk products on any color 22"x28" poster board. Do not attach anything to the poster that is more than 1/2" thick and no glitter. Do not use commercial brand name products, jingles, slogans, signs or pictures that are trademark or copyright protected on your poster. First place billboards will be sent to LSU to be judged in a statewide contest.
