Communication and Career Contest
Caldwell Parish 4-H'ers recently competed in the 4-H Communication and Career Contest held at Union Central Elementary on Feb. 4. Members competed in the Demonstration Contest, Ambassador Talks and Personal Development. This contest was sponsored by State Farm and the Caldwell 4-H Foundation.

Dairy Billboard Contest
4-H Club members had the opportunity to compete in the 4-H Dairy Billboard Contest for the purpose of learning more about milk and milk products, their importance to healthy bodies and to promote milk consumption. First, second and third place winners received cash awards. All participants received ribbons. First place winners will compete in the state contest for additional cash awards.

Area 4-H Cookery Contest
Caldwell 4-H Club members participated in the Area 4-H Cookery Contest on February 18 at the Rayville Civic Center. Winners included Larrah Springer, Blue Ribbon-Rice Main Dish, Nealy McCoy, 2nd place-Rice Any Other, Railey Ellerbe, 3rd place-Pecan, Abigayle Hatten, Blue Ribbon-Sweet Potato, Brooklyn Hatten, Blue Ribbon-Egg, Krista Weems, 1st place-Chicken, Dalton Meredith, Blue Ribbon-Ground Beef and Kyle Parker, Blue Ribbon-Any Other Beef. First through third place winners received cash awards. Participants were involved in nutrition activities led by members of the Northeast Regional Youth Board while attending this event. Bobbie Rae Butler who currently serves on the Northeast Regional Youth Board and the State 4-H Executive Board helped lead a healthy breakfast activity. Each contestant was a first place winner in the parish cookery contest.

4-H Pet Show
The 4-H Pet Show will be held on April 15 at the Caldwell Parish High School tennis courts. Registration will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the contest beginning at 4:00 p.m. Members can enter 1-3 categories but cannot enter two animals in the same category. All animals must be in cages or on a leash. Categories are Dogs, Small Animals and Large Animals.

4-H Records Contest
4-H portfolios, including completed project books for grades 4-6 and grade 7-12, Club Secretary's Book, Club Reporter's Book, Caldwell 4-H scholarship applications and 4-Star applications are due to the 4-H office on Tuesday, April 16. For more information contact the 4-H office at 318-649-2663.

Co-op Camp
Are you an 8th-12th grade 4-H member with the leadership skills to be part of a successful business? Organize your own co-op business and find out! Share and learn techniques and resources with other teen leaders and professional business men and women during the Youth Co-op Leadership Conference at Camp Grant Walker on April 19-21. Be on the board of directors or help manage the business. Vote on the future direction of your business! Market and create a successful membership drive. Feel the thrill of victory or agony of defeat based on your business efforts. The cost of this camp is only $30 and is due to the Caldwell 4-H office by March 31. 4-H Challenge Camp
Attention 7th and 8th grade 4-H'ers! The time is fast approaching for the 2013 4-H TEAM Camp. The camp will be held at Camp Grant Walker Educational Center in Pollock, La. from April 25-27. The $55 camp fee includes a two night stay, meals, snacks, t-shirt and a really fun experience! Test your team building and communication skills while making friends to last a lifetime. Don't miss out on this exciting camping experience! The last day to sign-up is Friday, April 5.

4-H Small Animal Clinic
The 3rd Annual Northeast Louisiana 4-H Small Animal Clinic for rabbits, poultry, goats and lambs will be held on Saturday, April 6 at the Delhi Livestock Barn in Delhi, La. The clinic will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon and cost $20. Bring your animal project to this clinic and learn from experts how to show, groom and care for your animal. Please make sure that required health papers are available. The registration deadline is Friday, March 22. Information about the clinic and a registration form are attached at the bottom of this page.
