What’s up in Avoyelles 4-H?

Recently a group of 7th-8th graders from Avoyelles parish were able to attend Challenge Camp at Camp Grant Walker. During this packed weekend the youth were challenged to overcome many barriers and teamwork crossroads. They achieved successes and had failures.

One of the challenges was to make a boat out of cardboard, duct tape, and a box cutter. Kids had to earn all of their materials through achievement of teamwork activities. If they failed, they had to improvise and come up with a new strategy. This was all part of the lessons about making something work with the little that we might have in life.

There are many opportunities for children in Avoyelles 4-H. If you want to get more involved as a child or a volunteer parent please contact the Avoyelles 4-H office today.
