Welcome to the LSU AgCenter's Assumption Parish family and consumer sciences page. Family and consumer sciences seek to enhance the lives of individual and families, strengthen communities and shape the future of Louisiana through researched-based educational outreach. Programs are based on three focus areas:  nutrition and health, family development and family resource management.

The focus of the nutrition and health area of family and consumer sciences is to improve the health and nutrition of the people of Louisiana. We do this by providing various health and nutrition programs to the citizens of the state. We participate in national programs that address children, pregnant women, families and the elderly.

Linked from this page you will find information on a variety of subjects:  food preservation; food safety; nutrition, diet and health; diabetes; and heart disease.

We have educational programs and free publications on many of these topics at our office located at 119 Robin Street in Napoleonville.  Please call (985) 369-6386 for more information.
