The Venice Port Complex has donated $7,500 to Plaquemines Parish 4-H, according to Jan Morgan, LSU AgCenter 4-H agent.

“These funds will help us continue to provide educational opportunities for Plaquemines Parish youth,” Morgan said.

Morgan said the Plaquemines 4-H organization provides young people with skills in leadership and citizenship, character building, nutrition and health, environmental awareness, horticulture and other life skills.

She said more than 500 youths are enrolled in the Plaquemines Parish 4-H program.

“In addition to helping with the day-to-day operation of the program, these funds will help with the expense of sending students to training seminars and regional and statewide 4-H events,” she said.

The Venice Port Complex is an extensive multi-purpose facility, which includes heavy industrial tenants, major production and service companies, as well as other commercial and recreational fishing facilities.
