Ag Adventures, an educational experience in agriculture for third- through fifth-graders, will be held Feb. 10-11 at the Northeast District Livestock Show Barn and Civic Center, both in Delhi.

Students spend about an hour and a half in interactive “alleys” learning about agricultural products in northeast Louisiana from LSU AgCenter agents.

Four commodities to be showcased include cotton, sweet potatoes, livestock and horses. The animal events last about 30 minutes each in the barn, and other activities are held at the Civic Center.

The goal of the event is to increase awareness of the nutritional and economic importance of Louisiana commodities, said Keith Collins, LSU AgCenter agent in Richland Parish.

This is the third time the event will be held. Nearly 700 students participated last year, and 1,000 are expected this year.

Students, teachers and parent volunteers from schools in East Carroll, Franklin, Madison, Richland, Tensas and West Carroll parishes are expected to participate.

Schools are given a choice of attending Ag Adventures or Ag Alley at Ag Expo in West Monroe.
