Commercial organic vegetable workshop set for Nov. 12

A commercial organic vegetable production and marketing workshop will be held Nov. 12 at the at the LSU AgCenter’s Burden Center in Baton Rouge.

The main presenter will be Paul Wiediger, co-owner of Au Naturel Farm, a certified organic farm for more than 35 years in Smiths Grove, Ky. Wiediger is an expert on the use of high tunnels or hoop houses for vegetable production.

Sponsored by the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group and the Louisiana Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Professional Development Program, the workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is a great opportunity for growers, said Emily Neustrom, state program assistant for the program.

Registration is $10 for growers and students, and county agents and agriculture professionals may attend at no charge. Entrance to Burden Center is on Essen Lane off Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge.
