The LSU AgCenter and the Louisiana Mosquito Control Association are sponsoring a workshop March 20-22 in Alexandria for those interested in being certified as commercial pesticide applicators in mosquito control and public health.

It is intended for those interested in re-certification or becoming certified mosquito control/public health, categories 8a, 8b, 8c and 8d.

The workshop, which will begin at 11 a.m. March 20 and conclude at noon March 22, will take place at the Best Western Conference Center at 2720 W. McArthur Drive in Alexandria.

The first two days of the workshop will be classroom style at the hotel, according to LSU AgCenter pesticide safety expert Dr. Mary Grodner, and the third day will include a morning of hands-on sessions at the LSU AgCenter’s Dean Lee Station just south of Alexandria on U.S. 71.

After the workshop, certification examinations administrated by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry will be offered during the afternoon on March 22 – for those wishing to become officially certified.

Advance registration fees for the workshop are set at $10 for members of the Louisiana Mosquito Control Association and $30 for others. On-site registration will be an additional $5 for all.
