LSU AgCenter Sets Beef Cattle Nutrition Short Course

A beef cattle nutrition short course presented by the Gulf Coast Beef Education Alliance will be held at the LSU AgCenter’s Red River Research Station in Bossier City on the last Tuesday of the month in July, August, September, October and November.

The event will be presented over interactive video at sites in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. The July, August and September sessions will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. CDT, the October session from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. CDT and the November session from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. CST.

The Louisiana distance education sites will be at the LSU AgCenter distance learning facilities in Calhoun, West Carroll, Scott, Dean Lee, Calcasieu, Acadia, Terrebonne and St. Tammany parishes; the Reproductive Biology Center in St. Gabriel; and in Efferson Hall, Knapp Hall and the Old Forestry building on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge.

Topics in order they will be covered by month are Assessing Cattle Nutrition Needs and Feed Sources, Reducing Stored Feed Needs, Weaned Calf Development and Economics, Commodity Feeds in Detail and Applied Nutrition Tools. The cost will be $50 for the entire series or $15 per session.
