The LSU AgCenter and its St. Tammany Master Gardener Association will present the Northshore Garden Show March 17-18 at the St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds in Covington.

The event will provide a variety of activities of interest to gardeners, including informative speakers, sales of plants, a plant diagnostic clinic and "how to" demonstrations.

"We think the Northshore Garden Show is a great way for area gardeners to kick off the spring gardening season," LSU AgCenter county agent Rusty Batty said. "They’re sure to find a lot of good resources at the show, which will have 40 vendors promoting the Northshore nursery industry all under one roof."

Among the activities are:

–Educational sessions by LSU AgCenter weed specialist Ron Strahan, AgCenter lawn specialist Jeff Beasley and AgCenter consumer horticulture specialist Dan Gill, as well as advice from a variety of other experts from the local area.

–Plant diagnostics by Louisiana Master Gardeners and LSU AgCenter agents.

–Sales of locally grown herbs, flowering shrubs, trees and other garden-related items from area nurseries.

–A children’s discovery area, food and concessions, door prizes, demonstrations and much more.

Admission to the event is $3 for adults and free for children under 12. Proceeds provide Bobby Fletcher Scholarships for St. Tammany high school graduates majoring in an agriculturally related field in honor of the late Southeast District agent with the LSU Ag Center.
