The LSU AgCenter will offer forestry forums in the coming weeks to help those in the industry keep up with the latest technological advances, forestry issues and other vital information.
The forums will be held Jan. 30 at Woodworth, March 8 in Shreveport and March 23 in Hammond.
Specific topics to be covered by the forums will be tailored to the needs and interests of landowners and forestry professionals in the particular regions where the forums are being held.
Interested individuals can register, obtain programs and ask questions about the individual forums by contacting the LSU AgCenter foresters planning the educational programs:
–The Cenla Forestry Forum will be held Jan. 30 at the Tall Timbers Baptist Conference Center near Woodworth. The registration fee, which includes lunch, is $20 if received by Jan. 24 and $30 if received later. Professionals will cover topics such as extracting energy from wood, controlling invasive species, forest insects, federal forestry programs and forestry issues. –The Ark-La-Tex Forestry Forum will be held March 8 at the Holiday Inn Financial Plaza in Shreveport. The registration fee, which also includes lunch, is $17 if received by March 2 and $22 if received later. Some of the topics to be discussed by experts at this forum include a demonstration on using the Farm-A-Syst software program to help landowners develop a forest management plan, a discussion about the forest supply in the South, talk about a new pine planting strategies and other forest issues. –The Florida Parishes Forestry Forum will be held March 23 at the University Center on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.
