The LSU AgCenter’s Rosepine Research Station will host its annual Beef Cattle and Forage Field Day May 3.
Cosponsored by the Beauregard Parish Cattlemen’s Association, the event will feature tours of research plots at the station and will include the 20th annual Beauregard Cattlemen’s Trade Show. The public is invited to attend the free event.
The trade show and registration will begin at 2 p.m. with opening remarks for the field day at 3 p.m. LSU AgCenter personnel will conduct tours regarding some of the research being conducted at the station from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The tours will include information on the LSU AgCenter’s studies on the potential of growing Texas Bluegrass, the selection and management of Bermudagrass and Bahiagrass varieties, an update on growing clover, conditioning beef calves for the market, troubleshooting reproductive problems and the importance of conducting soundness exams on bulls.
Manufacturers and dealers will feature exhibits on the latest developments in the production of forage and livestock. Displays will include tractors, implements, trucks, trailers, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, feed, fertilizers, seed, livestock equipment, animal health products, fencing, livestock marketing information, farm financial services and other business services.
A complimentary meal will be served at 6 p.m., and the trade show and field day will close at 7 p.m.
Industry representatives and LSU AgCenter faculty members also will be on hand for individual consultations with producers during the event, and numerous LSU AgCenter publications and commercial publications will be available for producers.

The LSU AgCenter’s Rosepine Research Station serves beef cattle and forage producers in western and central Louisiana and has a history of providing practical, applicable information for them, as well as other producers in the state. The station is located 2 miles north of Rosepine on U.S. Highway 171.
