Crompion International (formerly American Utility Metals, LLC), a specialty stainless steels company that is based in Louisiana and operates globally, is a leader in providing specialty, low-nickel stainless steels and consulting services to a broad range of industries, including coal extraction and sugarcane processing. Crompion International offers an entire family of Cromgard specialty stainless steels to meet a wide range of applications from those deep within the manufacturing process to higher-profile aesthetic uses.

They have licensed the Louisiana Low Turbulence (LLT) Clarifier, a sugarcane clarifier technology developed by Vadim Kochergen and Cy Gaudet of the Audubon Sugar Institute. Built using Cromgard stainless steel, the clarifier reduces retention time and increases efficiency by more quickly separating solid particles from raw sugarcane juice and allowing more clear juice to pass through the system.

Crompion International was established by George M. Schaffer, an LSU graduate, in 2000 and has offices in Baton Rouge and Colorado Springs.
