Heritage Endowed Professorship Series

The LSU AgCenter has created the Heritage Endowed Professorship Series to recognize in perpetuity the 20th century pillars of the Louisiana agricultural industries.

Your family or company is invited to acknowledge its heritage and strong ties to a Louisiana commodity or industry by establishing an endowed professorship in the name of your company or one or more of your relatives who were influential in Louisiana during the 20th century. And you can do it by leveraging state funds for continued support of research and education programs in the LSU AgCenter.

A $100,000 endowed professorship is created by matching your $60,000 donation with $40,000 of state funds from the Louisiana Board of Regents. A gift of $60,000, for example, can cost only $45,000 after taxes in the 25 percent bracket – and even less in higher brackets.

You can make a pledge and can take up to five years to pay in any increments you wish. The professorship will be established when the pledge is fulfilled.

The income from the invested $100,000 will be used to support a faculty member working in a designated industry or commodity program in the LSU AgCenter. You may identify specific areas to support, for example: production, engineering, processing, marketing or any number of areas of research and education.

Endowed professorships bring the prestige of recognition to our most outstanding researchers and help the LSU AgCenter achieve and maintain faculty excellence.

And even more, a gift of $600,000 can earn a $400,000 state match to create a $1 million endowment for a named chair. These prestigious appointments have significant value in attracting, encouraging and retaining faculty members who display outstanding performance in research and scholarship as well as forever acknowledging your family’s or company’s contribution to Louisiana.

To learn more about endowed chairs and professorships, complete and send the online giving form for more information or to make a contribution now.

As a not-for-profit organization, the LSU Foundation accepts and manages gifts for the AgCenter. The foundation will manage your account and oversee the use of the funds.

Contributions to the LSU AgCenter are your opportunity to make a significant investment in a true Louisiana success story.
