An endowed professorship or chair can provide deserving recognition for an outstanding researcher, educator or leader. Supported by a special state program that offers matching funds for private gifts, an endowed professorship or chair provides excellent support for some of the best faculty.

The Louisiana Board of Regents Support Fund contributes $40,000 in state funds for each $60,000 in private donations. A $1,000,000 endowment for a chair requires $600,000 in private contributions augmented by $400,000 in state matching funds. A $100,000 endowment for a professorship requires $60,000 in private funds matched by $40,000 in state funds.

Founded in 1986, the Board of Regents Support Fund is a trust fund for financing endowments for chairs and professorships. The program is administered by the Board of Regents for the benefit of all colleges and universities in Louisiana.
