As with any major city, visitors should be mindful of safety considerations. The New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau has issued a Visitor Safety Information Sheet that you should review. You may access it by clicking the link below.  

Pay close attention to the section on “Common Sense Tips for Visitors to Any Major City.” Your host committee suggests that you avoid walking through the French Quarter alone, and at night, travel with a group. Don’t enter dimly lit side streets. Spend your time in the more heavily travelled areas of the French Quarter, which is where you’ll find the best of dining, shopping and nightlife. In addition to the French Quarter, New Orleans offers a variety of family-oriented things to do, many of which are highlighted on the “New Orleans Is ...” section of this website.
