0 Untitled Document Welcome, “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” That’s a Cajun French phrase meaning “Let the good times roll!” And we want you to enjoy the conference in New Orleans as you share information with your peers in budget, finance, grants management, human resources management, civil rights and diversity. Louisiana is one of the states that has two land-grant universities – Louisiana State University and Southern University, both in Baton Rouge. The land-grant mission is carried out by the LSU AgCenter, a separate campus within the LSU System, and the SU Agricultural Center, which also is a separate campus in the SU System. We are two distinct programs but share resources and work together on many projects. We are both dedicated to serving the people of Louisiana. We are proud to host this conference in our state. Together, we will celebrate our legacy of service to our nation. The year 2012 marked the 150th anniversary of the Morrill Act, which established the land-grant system. In 2014, we will celebrate the centennial of the Smith-Lever Act, which established the Cooperative Extension Service nationwide. Our institutions could not have endured and been successful for so long without dedicated professionals, such as all of you. Best wishes for an enriching conference! Sincerely, William B.
