News Release Distributed 10/12/12BATON ROUGE, La. – LSU AgCenter entomologist Tim Schowalter has been selected to be among the first group of Fellows named by the Ecological Society of America, the world’s largest professional organization for ecologists and environmental scientists.
Schowalter, a professor and head of Department of Entomology, has been with the AgCenter since 2003.
The Ecological Society of America established the Fellows program to recognize outstanding contribution in academic, government, nonprofit organizations and the broader society. Schowalter is among 121 people nationwide to be named in this initial group.
Schowalter’s accomplishments include a substantial number of articles published on ecological topics, three books and a fourth that has been submitted for publication. He has served as an officer in the society and on a number of committees.
The 10,000-member society was formed in 1915 to coordinate ecological research and its application to natural resource management. Johnny Morgan
