News Release Distributed 12/21/04

The largest aquaculture trade show in the Western Hemisphere will highlight the 2005 meeting of the USA Aquaculture Society in New Orleans Jan. 17-20, according to Dr. Robert Romaire, resident director of the LSU AgCenter’s Aquaculture Research Station in Baton Rouge.

Romaire said the meeting will feature numerous concurrent sessions for aquaculture producers as well as researchers, engineers and marketers.

The program will include sessions on channel catfish culture, crawfish, alligators, turtles, freshwater fingerling production and shrimp culture, as well as more general sessions on nutrition and fish health, economics, water quality, fish diseases and food safety.

Registration for the full program is $375 if paid by Jan. 5 and $475 after Jan. 5. Admission to the trade show only is $50 and is good for the entire show.

More information on the meeting of the USA Aquaculture Society, which is a chapter of the World Aquaculture Society, is available at the National Aquaculture Association Web site at www.was.org.
