FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Second Annual Natchitoches Agricultural Day fast approaching

NATCHITOCHES – Come see for yourself why agriculture is the No. 1 industry in Natchitoches Parish at the Second Annual Natchitoches Agricultural Day on Saturday, February 16 at the Natchitoches Events Center.

The Agricultural Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Events Center, located at 750 Second Street in the heart of the Natchitoches Historic District. Admission is $2 per person and free for children 12 and under.

Agriculture is the No. 1 industry in Natchitoches Parish. The top agricultural products in Natchitoches include timber, poultry, cattle, cotton, and soybeans. We take great pride in our rich fertile soil which is able to produce such a variety of wonderful crops.

Special guests at the Second Annual Agricultural Day include the Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Mike Strain as well as Louisiana Farm Bureau President Ronnie Anderson.

The day-long expo will feature fun for the entire family. An exhibitor’s area will showcase commercial and educational exhibits as well as educational seminars on food preparation and gardening. In addition, a large sampling of antique tractors will be showcased in the lobby of the Events Center.

Corporate sponsors for the Natchitoches Agricultural Day include Howell Equipment Inc., Goldman Equipment, Patrick Miller Tractor Company, Pilgrim’s Pride Poultry and Weeks Tractor and Supply. These sponsors will offer an assortment of products and services at the show including the latest agricultural and civilian farm equipment ranging from tractors, lawn mowers and ATV’s.

Activities for children include a Laser Shot-computer simulated hunting game, Outdoor Skills informative booth and Wetlands Conservation booth where participants will create an edible wetland. Many other activities for children are planned including an outdoor petting zoo that will feature goats, sheep, pigs, miniature horses, ducks and geese.

Booth spaces are still available for those businesses who would like to exhibit merchandise at the Agricultural Expo. For more information about the show or to become a vendor, please call Chris Post, Marketing/Sales Coordinator at the Events Center, at 238-7503.
