The Macon Ridge Research Station
The Macon Ridge Research Station was established in 1955 to provide site-specific research for producers on the loessial silt-loam soils of the Macon Ridge. It was designed initially as an out-field branch of the Northeast Research Station in St. Joseph, LA but is now part of the Tom H. Scott Research and Extension Center. The research station is located in Franklin Parish immediately south of Winnsboro on Highway 15.
