It’s important to be careful when you handle turkey. Thawing, stuffing, cooking, serving and storing leftovers should be done properly to prevent food borne illness, often called food poisoning. Follow the rules and the guidelines to keep your turkey safe and delicious.

It's time to start thinking about planting trees and shrubs. Retail garden centers are receiving shipments of plant material for fall planting, and although some people believe spring is the time for planting, research shows November through January are excellent months for adding trees to your landscape.

In September we see some relief from the heat. Still, daytime highs continue to reach the 90s well into October. During this transition period, warm-season and cool-season vegetables rub elbows in the garden.
