.NOTE THIS: The Winn Parish Youth In Action Club (YAC) met on October 13, 2008 at 6:00 pm in the 4-H office. Projects and activities for the year were discussed. Members will plan and participate in several parish-wide leadership and community service projects. YAC officers are: President – Josh Horne, Vice-president– Thomas Horne, Secretary – Megan Crenshaw and Reporter – Breanna Howell. Other members pictured are: Alexis James, Emily Horne, Kaitlyn Mercer and Rachel Shields. 4-H members in grades 8-12 are invited to participate in the Youth in Action Club. For more information, contact Ms. Becky Kelley or any member of YAC. Congratulations to Mrs. Carolyn Phillips! It is a special honor to be inducted into the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame. Carolyn Phillips, retired Winn Parish Home Economist and 4-H Agent, received this distinguished honor and was recognized at a reception on September 23, 2008 in Winnfield. The reception was hosted by the LSU AgCenter Winn Parish Extension Service. Senator Gerald Long and Representative Rick Nowlin presented Mrs. Phillips with a Proclamation from the Louisiana legislature in recognition of honor and service to the youth and citizens of Winn Parish and the state. Winn Parish 4-H agents Donny Moon and Becky Kelley presented her with a Louisiana 4-H Centennial Bear and a lovely fall plant. Special thanks are extended to Karen Shirley, WSHS 4-H Club Leader and to WSHS 4-H members Kale Shirley, Kali Rogers, Holly Hendrix and Madison Austin, for assisting with serving courtesies.
