About 4-H...
4-H in Vernon Parish is a part of a local, state, national and international youth program. It is one of the largest youth organizations in the United States.
4-H agents develop and execute educational programs and activities that provide youth the opportunity to develop such life skills as self esteem, community and citizen responsibility, decision making, organization and social interaction. They are assisted in this goal by staff members of the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center, and both parish and state Cooperative Extension Service offices. School leaders, volunteer parents and other lay leaders, who share their time and talents in service to this youth organization in Vernon Parish, are a very fundamental element in the success of 4H in Vernon Parish.
The 4H Slogan, "Learn By Doing", is accomplished through record keeping, work in project books, method demonstrations, contests, workshops, junior leader club activities, camps and monthly scheduled club meetings.

Funding for the 4H program in Vernon comes from parish government, state government through LSU and federal government through the United States Department of Agriculture. Private businesses, individuals and foundations also provide support through contributions.
