Area 4-H Commodity Cookery
Terrebonne Parish 4-H members participated in the Area Commodity Cookery on April 27, 2009, at the Southland Mall in Houma. Participants competed against 4-H'ers from neighboring parishes in Seafood, Sugar, Beef, Egg and Poultry categories. Participants were selected by participating on the parish level at the parish commodity cookery and receiving grand champion honors. 4-H Day at the Capitol
Mark Your Calendars: The Eighth Annual 4-H Day at the Capitol program has been set for Wednesday, June 3, 2009. It’s not too late to join our group. If you would like to attend, please contact Mrs. Cherie Roger by June 2, 2009.
Junior Leader Fundraisers
The Terrebonne Parish 4-H Junior Club will have a garage sale on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the 4-H office (511 Roussell Street) from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please come out to support our club.
The Terrebonne Parish Junior Leader Club will also have a Po-Boy Lunch Fundraiser on Thursday, June 11, 2009. If you would like to support this fundraiser, please contact the 4-H office at 985-873-6495 for order forms or e-mail Cheriefor more information.
Money raised will be used for summer awards trip and yearly club programs.
Vegetable Field Day
Attention 4-H members: Join us for the Vegetable Field Day (formally known as Tomato Field Day) on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the USDA Research Stations (located near the Terrebonne Civic Center). The Field Day will begin at 9:00. There will be several categories for 4-H members to enter their tomatoes. Please contact the 4-H Office at 985-873-6495 with any questions.
4-H University
4‐H University will be held June 23‐26, 2009, at LSU in Baton Rouge. 4‐H'ers will experience what it is like to live on campus by staying in the dorms, participate in contest and educational activities, meet teens from throughout the state and have a blast while doing all of this! This is an opportunity for 4‐H members to compete on a state level in various project book-related contests and Clover College. The following are guidelines for the event: To participate, a 4‐H member must be 13 years old or older as of December 31 of the current club year. 4‐H members interested in attending should contact the 4-H Office at 985-873-6495.
