Area 4 Commodity cookery
On April 8, 2008, the Area 4 Commodity Cookery was held in Houma at the Southland Mall. Participants from ten parishes competed in the egg, poultry, beef, seafood, and sugar cookery. Participants were scored on their dish, recipe, and educational activity. Congratulations to all participants for an outstanding job!
2008 Livestock Exhibiters
It is time to consider being a livestock exhibitor during the 2008-2009 school year. Those interested in showing goats, cattle, rabbits, swine, lambs, and poultry must contact the 4-H office by June 1, 2008. Everyone interested must contact the 4-H Office due to important changes concerning animal possession dates and a new animal validation process for the 2008 - 2009 school year. This is a perfect opportunity for 4-H members to learn about livestock and Character Counts!
Centennial Clover Hunt
All Terrebonne Parish 4-H members are invited to participate in the Centennial Clover Hunt on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Houma Courthouse Square. Participants will hunt for 4-H clovers with hidden messages about Louisiana and Terrebonne Parish 4-H. 4-H prizes will be given.
Attention Junior Gardeners
If you have interest in gardening, get your tomato plants planted, take care of your crop and get ready to participate in the Tomato Field Day, this June. We are looking for the biggest tomato. More information will come, start planting.
4-H University
Mark your Calendars and make plans for 4-H to be part of your summer.
4-H members wanting to experience life as an LSU student must experience 4-H University. To participate, a 4-H member must be 13 years old or older as of December 31 of the current club year. 4-Her’s participate in contest and/or educational programs throughout the week. Members get a feel of campus life by staying in dorms and getting acquainted with the wonderful LSU campus. 4-H members from all 64 parishes attend this exciting summer event. By attending 4-H University, you’ll make new friends, make new experiences, and become an even bigger LSU fan! If you are interested in participating in 4-H University, please call the 4-H office at 873-6495 for more information. 4-H University will be held June 17- June 20, 2008.
