Game: Hornets versus the Chicago Bulls – 7:00 p.m.
Location: New Orleans Hornets Arena, New Orleans, La.
Purpose of Event:
- To provide an opportunity for 4-H’ers to experience an event outside of their home base.
- To provide 4-H’ers the opportunity to interact with others from around the state.
- To increase recognition of the 4-H program within the state.
Member opportunities to promote:
Note: Members from Terrebonne Parish who submit names to Mrs. Cherie will then be sent on to the State 4-H office. It is then that members are selected to participate in the following activities. By submitting your name/essay does not mean you automatically are selected to participate in the chosen activity.
- Ball girl/boy – 2 – Must be 8 – 12th grade 4-H member – 2 free tickets for both 4-H members selected.
Age requirement: 13 years of age by January 1, 2011. Opportunity if you submit an essay on the topic: “Being a Good Citizen through Community Service”. Essays must consist of 150 or less Essays are due to Mrs. Cherie by Jan. 21, 2011. The two winners will each receive two free tickets to the game.
- Captain’s Program – one 4-H member – no age requirement – 2 free tickets for 4-H member selected.
One 4-H member will have the opportunity to participate in the referee meeting on-court, act as an honorary captain and present the game ball for the evening. Submit your essay of 150 words or less on the topic: “4-H: Why Do I Belong”. Send your essays to Mrs. Cherie by Jan. 21, 2011. The winner will receive two free tickets to the game.
- National Anthem – one 4-H member – no age requirement – 2 free tickets for 4-H member selected. No age requirement, send video or audio tape to Mrs. Cherie by Jan. 7, 2011 at the 4-H office. There will be an opportunity for an individual to sing the National Anthem at the Hornets game on Feb. 12th and the winner will receive two free tickets to the game.
- Invocation – One pastor or minister to deliver 25 second invocation – 2 free tickets for individual selected. Send the name of a pastor or minister for the invocation to Mrs. Cherie by Jan. 7, 2011. The invocation will be prior to the game and will be limited to 25 seconds or less. The individual selected will receive two free tickets to the game.
- Basketball Buddies – 10 – no age requirement Basketball Buddies allows 10 4-H members to stand in front of the Hornets basketball team during the performance of the National Anthem. 4-H members must be elementary students not over 5 feet 9 inches. Interested 4-H members need to send in their name to Mrs. Cherie by Jan. 21, 2011. Only one members name will be submitted to the state office.
- Half time presentation – one 4-H member per parish – no age requirement Each parish will select two 4-H members to represent their parish for the halftime recognition of 4-H. The 4-H members selected will go on the court while a promo about 4-H is read to the audience. This will be a great opportunity to experience being on a basketball court and promote 4-H at the same time. Interested 4-H members need to submit their names by Jan. 21, 2011 to Cherie Roger.
Selections for Number 7 – 12 will be through a random drawing at the state 4-H office.
Interested 4-H members must submit their name to Mrs. Cherie at the 4-H office by Jan. 21, 2011.
- High five team – 10 – no age requirement Ten 4-H members will have an opportunity to be on the court prior to the game and High Five the Hornets players as they are introduced on the court.
- Honeybee photo – 25 – no age requirement Twenty-five 4-H members will have an opportunity for a group photo with the Honeybees Dance Team.
- Player photo – 25 – no age requirement Another 25 4-H members will have an opportunity for a group photo with one of the Hornets players.
- Tunnel group (Hornets) – 25 – no age requirement
- Tunnel Group (Indiana Pacers) – 25 – no age requirement The two Tunnel Groups of 25 4-H members each can High Five the players as they run through the tunnel leading to the court.
- Baseline Bees – 10 – no age requirement Baseline Bees allows 10 4-H members to watch the Hornet players up close warm up prior to the game.
