The Tangipahoa Parish 4-H Advisory Committee met June 27, 2007 at Mike’s Catfish Inn in Amite. Committee members present included: Michelle Fontenot, Aline Newman, Allison Joiner, Sharon Joiner, Christina Newman, Pat & Nancy Talley, Lisa Spriggs, Violet Johnson, Kristin Johnson, Beth Scarmado, Dara Stewart, Clint Galliano, Amanda & Kylie Sharp.
JoAnna and Chic welcomed the group and had everyone introduce themselves. Chic gave an overview of the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, which is a part of the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center. Chic also stated the purpose and roles of Advisory Committees.
The 4-H situation was discussed by the group. Tangipahoa Parish has 1210 4-H Club members in 28 organized 4-H Clubs. The elementary clubs make up 67% of the members, Junior High 15% and High School 18%. There are no organized 4-H Clubs at Hammond Westside, Hammond Junior High, Kentwood Junior High and Senior High Schools. Contacts will continue to be made in an effort to form 4-H Clubs at these schools.
The floor was then open for discussion for changes and/or improvements in any of the 4-H activities. The items that were discussed included:
Cookery:
1. Provide students with copies of their score sheets of judged dish or dishes.
2. Have larger place for seafood cookery.

2. Keep Achievement Day at the arena or try to return to Southeastern Louisiana University.
