The annual Northshore Sping Garden Show will be held from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. March 21-22, 2009, at the St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds in Covington.
The event, which is sponsored by the St. Tammany Master Gardeners, will include a plant sale with more than 35 vendors in the covered Bobby Fletcher Agriculture Center (barn). There will be sales of plant and garden supplies, a plant health clinic, a children's activity booth and general horticultural information provided by the Master Gardeners
Several LSU AgCenter specialists and Master Gardeners will offer seminars on native plants, tropical plants, lawns, bees and many other common gardening issues. LSU AgCenter horticulturist Dan Gill will be present to dicuss the "Tropicals for the Northshore, and local camellia grower Jim Cambell will present "Care and Maintenance of Camellias." In addition, LSU AgCenter equine specialist Dr.Clint Depew will have a presentation on "Horse Safe Landscaping."
There is a $3 per person gate fee, but children 12 & under are admitted for free. Proceeds will be used toward an agriculture/horticulture scholarship.
