With "Camp Grant Walker ... It Will Grow on You" as the theme, 64 St. Martin Parish elementary 4-H members attended 4-H summer camp.

4-H University yields a variety of learning opportunities for participants. St. Martin Parish had 47 4-H'ers who participated.

Participants in the St. Martin Parish 4-H Shooting Sports Program gathered for their annual end of the year celebration June 7.

St. Martin Parish 4-H Shooting Sports participants Eric Melancon of Cecilia and Dillon Comb of Breaux Bridge recently returned from the National 4-H Shooting Sports Competition held in Grand Isle, Nebraska, from June 24-28, 2009. These youth faced three days of tough competition and shooting.

The Acadiana District Horse Show was held July 2-4, 2009, at the ULL Blackham Coliseum. There were many 4-H'ers from seven surrounding parishes who participated in this event. These are the results for St. Martin Parish participants.

More than 1,200 4-H members, volunteers, and agents made their way to Baton Rouge on June 3, 2009, for the annual 4-H Day at the Capitol.

4-H volunteer club leaders were honored and presented a pin and certificate for their dedication and years of service to 4-H at 4-H Honors Night.

Nearly 200 4-H’ers were honored at the 22nd annual St. Martin Parish 4-H Honors Night which was held on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Breaux Bridge High School. Special award recipients are pictured below.

These St. Martin Parish 4-H members were honored and selected for their outstanding portfolios (record/proejct) book in each grade level division.

St. Martin Parish 4-H'ers participated in the 2009 Southern Regional Shooting Sports Competition in Lake Charles, La., and the 4-H State Match.

189 4-H club members were honored at our annual 4-H Honors Night on May 12, 2009 for completing an outstanding project/portfolio.

Ten St. Martin Parish seventh- and eighth-grade 4-H members participated in 4-H Challenge Camp held at the LSU AgCenter's Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center near Pollock, La., April 15-17.

The 2009 4-H District Shooting Sports match was held on April 4th in Baker, LA. There were 28 participatns from St. Martin Parish. Results are listed.

4-H youth can cook was the unwritten theme of this year's 4-H Area Cookery Contest held on March 25, 2009. There were twelve 4-H'ers representing the St. Martin Parish 4-H youth development program.

The following study guides (grade levels 5-6, 7-8 and high school) are available for 4-H club members to study for the following judging test on 4-H Achievement Day : Horticulture, Insect ID, Meat and Plant Science Tests.

The 2009 St. Martin Parish Rabbit Show was held on January 31, 2009. Sixteen 4-H'ers exhibited forty-five rabbits at this year's show. The results are as follows.

St. Martin Parish held its 2009 4-H Broiler Show on January 31. Twenty-two (22) exhibitors showed thier top three birds. Results are as follows.

The 4-H Acadiana District Livestock Show was held in Lafayette on Feb. 5-7, 2009. Results from St. Martin Parish participants are included here.

The 2009 4-H Parish Livestock Show was held on January 23-24, 2009. Forty-four (44) 4-H exhibitors participated in the goat, sheep, beef, dairy and swine categories showing 110 animals. Results are as follows.

The February 2009 4-H meeting calendar shows dates and times of 4-H Club meetings in St. Martin Parish.

St. Martin Parish 4-H Achievement Day will be held on Monday, April 27, 2009 at Breaux Bridge High School. The contest and rules for each grade level is listed so that club members may participate.

The 4-H Commodity Cookery Contest was held on January 17, 2009. Fifty-four (54) dishes competed in the categories of sugar, seafood, rice, beef and a wild game category.

The 2008 4-H Project Fun Day was held on November 25, 45 4-H club members attended 5 workshops presented by 4-H Junior Leaders.
