St. Martin Parish seventh grade 4-H members participated in the south central region 4-H challenge camp held at camp Grant Walker in Pollock, LA March 27-29, 2008. The theme for this leadership experience was Centennial Challenge 2008 since Louisiana 4-H is celebrating its100th birthday this year. The goal of the camp was to challenge seventh graders to set high personal goals as a result of activities designed to develop a positive self concept, interpersonal relationship skills while enhancing their communication skills. The activities included outdoor and indoor challenges, a boat building contest and a service learning project in which they constructed, painted and installed 4 houses for bats and planted irises and pitcher plants in a wetland area of the campground as part of the Youth Wetlands Week experiences
