More than 1,200 4-H members, volunteers and agents made their way to Baton Rouge on June 3, 2009, for the annual 4-H Day at the Capitol. The festivities began with an assembly on the Capitol steps in which those in attendance were greeted by LSU AgCenter chancellor Bill Richardson, AgCenter vice chancellor Paul Coreil, Senator Butch Gautreaux, Representative Rick Gallot, state 4-H executive board members and many others.
Parish delegations later met with their legislators and toured the state capitol, where they were able to see our legislative branch in action during committee meetings and sessions of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Those representing St. Martin Parish were: 4-H members Elliott Bernard, Taylor Hebert and Hannah Thibodeaux; volunteer Jeanise Bernard; and 4-H agents Hope Guidry and Laura Brumbaugh. The St. Martin Parish 4-H delegation got a chance to meet with their legislators, Senator Troy Hebert and Representative Fred Mills.
