This workshop series assists parents in focusing on the needs of the children involved in the family separation. Often children are put in the middle of parental disputes. This is a video-based program taught in four sessions. It assists parents in recognizing children’s stress indicators associated with separating families. All classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Classes will be held at the St. John Parish Extension Office, 151 East 3rd Street, Edgard, La. (office located behind the courthouse). You MUST attend four classes to receive a certificate of completion.

Angry behaviors are learned over the life-span of a person. Inappropriate behavior can be unlearned and replaced with healthier coping patterns.

Getting in control of your anger, listing the causes, reasons and things that anger you can decrease fear, pain, frustration, unpleasant experiences, rejection and embarrassment.

The LSU AgCenter offers workshops in St. John Parish for children and parents that are experiencing anger problems. All classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes will be held at Kingsley House, 429 W. Airline Hwy., Laplace, La. You MUST attend four classes to receive a certificate of completion.

The Family and Consumer Science Staff of the LSU AgCenter are pleased to announce the February, April, August and October 2011 schedule of classes for Licensed A, Licensed B, and Family Childcare Center Directors and Childcare Providers in St. John and St. James Parishes. All classes include research-based information to assist you in continuing to care for Louisiana’s children.

The training sessions will be held at the LSU AgCenter Building, 151 East 3rd Street, Edgard, Louisiana.

At least 10 child care providers must be registered in a class for that class to be conducted.

Pre-registration is required. Certificates will be awarded upon completion of each session to those completing the entire three hours of training and who have registered prior to the beginning of the class.

Class Descriptions:

Anger and Behavior Management in the Classroom (CDA1):

Teaching children how to avoid escalating problems.

Transition Magician (CDA 1): Planning daily schedules from one activity to another activity.

Summer Fun in the Sun (CDA 2): Precautions to take in the outdoor sun.

Fitting in Fitness (CDA 2): Childhood obesity and the lack of movement.

It is at the discretion of the class instructor to permit students into the class after the class has begun.

NOTE: Please bring a snack and drink with you if you wish.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have a disability, which requires special assistance for your participation in any Child Care Provider class please contact the LSU AgCenter so that we may meet your individual needs.

All Extension programs are open to any person regardless of race, color, creed, sex, age, religion, national origin or handicap.

Registration is $10.00 per person per session. Please complete the pre-registration form accessible through the link below and mail or deliver the form along with money order covering the charges for all registered classes. Registration and payment must be received one week prior to the class to ensure your reservation.
