--Carol Skipper – Vice President
--Charlene Troxler – Secretary
--Sandy Peuschold – Treasurer
--Jerry Hummel – Project Coordinator

Reporting Volunteer Hours
-- Rene’ informed us that the problem in the program for reporting our volunteer hours has been corrected.
-- It is important to report our service hours as soon as possible and for sure before Dec. 31, 2010. They can be entered by the Master Gardener on the computer or if you do not have a computer you may contact Cheryl at the Ag office so she can send you a paper for you to record it on and send it back to the office to be recorded on the computer.
-- Rene’ reminded us that it’s important for the many hours that we volunteer and the many contacts we make to be recorded because our presence makes a difference and the lawmakers in Baton Rouge can see when they read our reports.

Inactive Members
-- Starting in 2011 names of inactive members would be put on the side (for newsletters, minutes, etc.) until they can return and again become an active member.
-- He mentioned that meetings, educational seminars, work on projects would all count towards hours to be recertified as an active Louisiana Master Gardener. The number of hours has not been determined but Rene’ will have clarification later.

MG Newsletter and Blog
-- Rene’ would like for us to send pictures and small reports on our projects so he can send blogs.
-- He reminded us that we would sill like to send out a newsletter but without our reports, articles and pictures we can’t! Our group is doing lots of good things and it’s good to share good news of good works – so let’s do.
-- Send your notes, pictures, articles and updates to Bobbie.

MG Class
-- The next Master Gardener class will be held in late 2011.
-- The fee will be $150.

MG Conference
-- There will not be a Master Gardener Conference in 2011.
-- The Hammond Research Center announced they would hold another Master Gardener Appreciation Day (probably in May). Rene’ asked us to contact him with any suggestions.

Demonstration Garden
-- The demonstration garden project funding is still in the works. Rene’ has meetings with a few parish industries. He reminded us if we have contacts with any businesses that may be interested to let him know.

Destrehan Fall Festival
-- The festival is scheduled for November 13th and 14th.
-- Jerry is setting up on Friday. Signed up for Saturday are Bobbie, Carol, Betty and Christine. Signed up for Sunday are Jerry, Sandy, Mike H. and Gretchen.
-- The group decided to send Nancy at the Plantation a calendar.

Heritage Day
-- Jerry reports Heritage Day was a huge success. Schools from other parishes brought students. They saw approximately 450 youth at the vintage garden.
-- A teacher from Hurst suggested the students put a bean inside a zip plastic bag with a wet cotton ball for them to watch it sprout. So, that they did. Students found it interesting and left with their growing projects in hand.

Vintage Garden
-- The vintage garden is looking pretty good in spite of a fungus in some beds, rain and /or lack of and armadillos all over.

San Francisco Plantation
-- Lorraine and Bobbie put in four flats of petunias and all are looking great. A work day may be called in January or February.

Twin Oaks
-- Shirley reports a $25 donation from Home Depot.
-- The garden is looking really pretty. Shirley weeded, trimmed, planted snaps and pansies and mulched. We encouraged Shirley to send in a picture of the pretty project.
-- The manager said he will place a sign reading “Louisiana Master Gardeners Butterfly Garden.”

ARC
-- Mike H. has been working with groups from HHS and DHS. With his instructions, students mixed soils, filled 90 bags and set them up ready for the tomato project. They will also help to get ready for the next steps – trellis and irrigation and…weeding.
